The Male Room

Today over at The Male Room, the theme is PET.  My first response was to go with a sympathy card, but I have done that in the past.  Instead, I went with an encouraging card;

While most people don't keep tigers as pets, they do have cute kitties -- so I am pushing this card, but it does work for a masculine encouragement -- don't you think?  The tiger image is from an out of business, business, and the tiny kitty is Stampendous -- probably 20 years old at this point :).

Come on over and join in The Male Room.  Let's see how you interpret PET.

Seize the Sketch #18

It's time again for the Seize the Sketch Challenge.  Wow, last week had an amazing turnout!  That was really awesome!  This week's sketch is terrific too.  Here is my card:

I used the beautiful colors from The Paper Players #191.  [My flowers, PTI Rosie Posie, are really stamped in coral, but dam if I could get my camera to show that!]  My sentiment is from STAMPlorations, Mom's Subway Art Builders #5.  I am totally loving this sketch~

So, do you like the sketch? I hope you come on over to Seize the Sketch #18, and play along!

Cardabilities Sketch #97

It's Cardabilities Sketch time!  This sketch is so fabulous - I had a great time creating with it!

I started with a dictionary page and gesso, did some spritzing with Dylusions ink, and then I used colored embossing paste with stenciled dots.  I cut my leaves out in both vellum and card stock for layering, added a button and a sentiment and this card is complete!
I completely love the end result!

Now, you need to pop on over to Cardabilities, check out the other DT's cards, and play along~  I can tell you, this sketch is a super fun one!

Card Drive for Lauryn!

I just made a bright, happy card for Miss Lauryn using the Hero Arts set, Antique Engravings, with a sentiment from Gina K Designs, True Love [retired].  I used the sketch from Clean & Simple, and I am entering this into the A Blog Named Hero, build a background.

Isn't this little girl just precious? Let me introduce you....
Lauryn
was diagnosed with Leukemia on March 27, 2014. She is currently
hospitalized in the DC area undergoing chemotherapy to fight this
terrible disease.  Lauryn is Linda Payne's granddaughter...many of you in the stamping community probably already know sweet Linda!

As
news of Lauryn's illness spread via social media, many of you have
asked if there is anything you can do to help, so we have come up with a
plan. We decided to have a Card Drive and would like to invite YOU to help by sending "happy mail" to Lauryn and her family.

Please
create cards to share your love and encouragement for Lauryn and her
family. Lauryn's parents are Josh and Elizabeth and she has two older
siblings: Lily and Logan. We thank the Lord for this dear family and
need to pray for them as they are seeking to glorify the Lord throughout
this trial.

Cards can be mailed to:

Children's National
Hematology/Oncology RM 437
Lauryn Newsome
111 Michigan Ave NW

You can find updates on Lauryn via a Facebook page that has been set up by some family. It is Fight on Little Lauryn.
They have shared how encouraging it is receive a simple "like" on a
Facebook status or words of love and encouragement that is posted.
Here
is the fabulous group of bloggers who have joined us in promoting this

Saturday Challenges

I took some more time this morning to play in a few more challenges.

I am joining in with Connie & Mary Create #298.  My SU stamps were feeling extremely neglected and needed some ink ;).  I used the fun sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #131.

CCMC298
I used 3 different sets for my card; Lots of Thoughts, Painted Garden and Best Blossoms.  I am not even going to look to link these sets since I am sure they are all retired.  One thing about SU images, retired or not, they are amazing stamps and I just can't bring myself to sell them!

I also am joining in over at SCS Inspiration challenge.  It has been forever since I played in this challenge!  I needed an 80th birthday card and found this photo.  Perfect, very celebratory!
Everything Matters!

I used the Hero Arts, Brush Strokes along with Zing Teal & Aqua embossing powder.  I adore the vivid colors of this powder.  I misted with Mister Huey's Opaque White color mist.  My numbers are PTI By the Number.  I think my girlfriend's husband will like this.

That's all for me today.  Have a great week end.  See you Monday!

Just Us Girls #236 - Technique & Addicted to CAS #36

This week over at Just Us Girls, Lisa had given us the technique of a water colored background.  Her timing is perfect as Jennifer McGuire just put out a water colored background video that I wanted to try.

I have to say, I rather like this background. I went for an ombre effect.  One thing about Jennifer, her techniques are never hard to do, you just need patience [for the drying time :)].  I used a sentiment from My Favorite Things, Simply Fabulous Sayings, and my background is a really old SU stamp.  A very simple card that does pack a punch.

You need to play in this week's challenge -- it's really fun.  I like water coloring since you never know what you will end up with...  Hope to see you join in over at Just Us Girls.

I have a dual day today. It is also Addicted to CAS Challenge. This week is Far Away.
We are being sponsored by StampArt Designs

I wanted to give the effect of a loooooooooong road.  Did I accomplish that?  Well, I hope so since this is the card I am using ;).

Meanwhile, pop on over to Addicted to CAS, check out the other DT cards and then, play along!  We would love to have you join in!

Some Fun Challenges~

Today I made a card using the sketch from Always Playing with Paper #4, Time Out Challenge; masculine birthday card, and Pals Paper Arts; color -

I used Memory Box dies for the Happy, Birthday, and the balloon is from MFT Party Balloons and dies.

PPA199_April_10[1]

I am also playing again in Virginia View Challenge with stencils, along with Keep it Simple; stencils.  This time I wanted to try direct water coloring with a stencil.  Oh yea!  Can I tell you I am impressed :) - so fun.

I used MFT's On the Diagonal stencil and just water brushed the stripes using distress inks.  My sentiment is from STAMPlorations, Chevron & Arrows.

That's it for me -- have an inky week end!!

It's Back! Dare 2B Artzy Friday

It's back!  Cindy, from Dare 2B Artzy has sent me some new stamp images!  They are so fun I had to start sharing on Fridays again~

Once again, my Silhouette comes through! Using the stamp set, Key To My Heart, I made cuts for the tag, along with the super fun key.  I stamped my background using Live Life, and keeping it mono-toned, I sponged ink all around the panel.  Add a few gems, and this card is complete.

Once again, I used Live Life for my stamped resist background. My sentiment is from Fancy Notes.  I adore the fancy font in this set.

That's it for my D2BA Friday.  I'll be back over the next few weeks showcasing some new and some older sets from Dare 2B Artzy stamps.  I hope you pop over and check out all her stamp sets.  They really are fabulous~

Sketchbook Saturday & Butterfly Challenge

Today I am joining in with Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday #100, along with The Butterfly Challenge #5; charm.

I used STAMPlorations, Mom's Subway Art Builder #4.  Traveling around blogland I came across using a water method of stenciling.  Ink up your water paper, spritz the stencil with water and lay down the stencil [I used Studio Calico Mister Huey's Butterfly stencils] over the inked panel.  The water reacts with the ink and makes a water colored image.  Very cool end result~

I got a new Dare 2B Arty's stamp set, Hot Air Balloon with die, and had to create with it!  I came across Catherine & Cathy Create #029, blue & yellow.  Perfect.

Right?  Living in Arizona, we got a ton of hot air balloons flying around. The designs and colors are just fabulous against the blue sky.  I think this set was made for me :).

Well, that's it for me today - I'll be back tomorrow with some more challenges!

Playing in a Few Challenges

Today, actually the rest of this week, my blog is wide open! That means I get to play in challenges.  I like that!

I am starting today with Paper Players #190, 3 of something

I have noticed that I get on color kicks - apparently this week is yellow and green :).  As you can see, I used 3 butterflies from PTI Butterfly Dreams, along with the die.  I am also on a stenciling kick -- I just love the way it looks.  Let's hope this trend sticks around for awhile.  [A little note, I got a package of stencils from Wal Mart for like $3! Cha Ching on that find!]  I am also linking this to Keep it Simple; stencil and Virginia's View Challenge; stenciling.

I think that is it for me today -- I will try not to overwhelm you and/or add to my ridiculous amount of back stock cards!  I need to figure out a way to sell some of these cards... wanna buy any????? :)

SCS Color Challenge #CC473

I am the Hostess over at the SCS Color Challenge.  This week I chose Baja Blue, So Saffron and Sahara Sand with a dessert of an Easter Card.

I used the adorable bunny from Clear Dollar Stamps, who unfortunately have gone out of business.  I am not sure if this image is even available any longer, but he sure works perfectly for the dessert! :)

I used the sketch from Retro Sketches #108 and was inspired by the colors from Catherine & Cathy Create Challenge.

Are you inspired by the colors?  Do you need an Easter card?  Well, come on over to SCS Color Challenge and play along!  I would love to see what you create~

A Crazy Monday

There are a few Team cards on the blog today....

My first card is for over at A Walk Down Memory Lane Blog

I have a tutorial that really, I recommend you pop over and check out.  There are a couple of awesome hints and tricks that you could learn!  That is always fun, and of course, the products used, are linked to the store for easy purchase ;).

PLEASE NOTE - [Last week's card [decorating letters] is on the blog this week.  Today's card was on the blog last week.  Both cards have tutorials - A Walk Down Memory Lane Blog.

My second card is for the STAMPlorations Sketch Challenge for the next 2 weeks;

I used STAMPlorations Puzzle Pieces with a little stenciling in the background.  Such a fun set!

Now, come on over to The STAMPlorations Blog and join in the fun!  This sketch runs through April 18.  Remember, there is a prize for the winner!

 And lastly, I am the Muse this week!  I came up with this card;

I found this image in my Hero Arts stamps; Floral Blossoms.  Is this lovely or what?  I can't believe that I have never used this before.  It worked wonderfully to ink up my stamps and spritz with water. -- I adore the softness of this.  My sentiment is also from Hero Arts; Essential Messages.

Are you inspired?  Please, pop on over to Muse and play along!  I can't wait to see what you create~

I hope I haven't completely overwhelmed you. That said, I sure hope you play along!!
